Spoiled, I Think

Not only did we get to go to the fair last week, but we got to go to Lagoon too! (Thanks auntie Shauna for getting us cheap tickets!)

The Gang, or at least those that could make it. This reminds me a lot of growing up. We were real close to our cousins and made a trip to Lagoon at least once a year, well, at least until they started asking for our kidneys as admission.

Mom, Connor, Aunt Shauna, Me, Sydney, and my sister Marie
This picture just cracks me up! This is Sydney with my "little" brother and they really did have fun, even though Sydney is not showing it.

Lots and lots of rides. I am definitely not as young as I used to be! I decided to take a break from being mom and went with the rest of the crowd and rode the big rides. Ya, I was sick after the first one, The Spider, but I wasn't going to let on. The second ride, Wicked, really didn't help, but they wanted to go on Colossus next and that was a favorite of mine, so I ignored my turning stomach. Uh, the Colossus did me in. I had to go back to being mom after that ride, I was quite sick. But, oh wait, on the way back to meet the kids, we passed the Tidal Wave, another childhood favorite. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I couldn't ride on another ride the rest of the day. Now I get car sick, so I thought I would go prepared so I took motion sickness medicine, but I think next time I need to invest in one of those motion patches. They worked great at Disney World.

State Farm

No, luckily we didn't really need any insurance on this trip (State Farm, ha, ha). But it was fun to get down and dirty with the farm animals.

Goats, Connor's favorite!

Cows and his belly button, more favorites!

Can't forget the pigs

It's not a fair without overpriced rides

and overpriced food (is cotton candy considered food?)

My cousin left for Iraq last Friday and I just wanted to send a shout out to him and thank him for protecting me and my freedoms that I so comfortably enjoy, especially my central air, right Nik? (Iraq is blastedly hot right now I guess)

We love you and pray for your safety.

Also, a thanks to all those Army wives for sacraficing their husbands for our freedoms. We love you and pray for you too Ashley!

Sad News

There is very sad news to all of the Twilight fans and those looking forward to the new book, Midnight Sun. She won't be finishing it now and I am very sad. I don't know how anyone could do this and I am just very disappointed. How could anyone be so stupid? (Okay, I know it is just a book, but I was really looking forward to it. Don't worry, I will get over sometime.)

Short but Sweet

Although we really miss the Milwaukee Zoo, we had a lot of fun at the Hogle Zoo. It is quite a bit smaller, but they have changed a lot of things since I was a kid and made it quite nice. The best part about it was we were able to meet up with some friends from dental school. They are also trudging along here in the oh-so saturated state of Utah. It was nice to catch up and commiserate a little.

Sydney, Connor, Tommy, and Zack
The cool white alligator. Did you know there are only 10 in the world? I guess they would know since these poor guys can't live in the wild (you know, sunburn, can't hunt, or hide).
Everyone has to risk the lions mouth
My cousin and her son (my first cousin, once removed) were able to come with us. I just love this picture!

And of course the playground, which is so much nicer than it used to be.

Laborless Labor Day

A little croquet with my brother and his girl-friend (I kicked their butts!)

Little campfire in the backyard with music, doughboys, of course, and a Sydney-sized fit

Dad's Talent is Coming Through

Of course kids never do things as well for the camera, but I got him to do a little. I was doing bills and listening to the radio when Connor decided to join in. If you have heard this song before, you will understand that he is copying the chorus.
