Off Track

I'm not sure yet if I am a fan of this off track business.  Honestly, I think I would rather have a longer summer.  It is just easier to entertain your kids in the summer ("go outside and play" being my favorite form of entertainment).  I feel like my kids mostly watched TV, so I have to post the few things that we did do so that I feel a little better about all the TV watching.  Did I mention this third baby is wiping me out!

We did a painting craft, Connor a snake and Sydney a butterfly:

We went to Classic and tried out their rollerskating rink and their "jungle"

She actually jumped right back up and didn't even cry.  Connor made it once around the track and he was done and went back to his scooter.  I think Sydney made 2 or 3 times around before she went back to the scooter.   Now that she has roller skated, Sydney is ready to move on to ice skating.  Thank you Olympics.

We even got up the courage and asked some neighbors to go to a bouncy house with us.  Why is it so much harder to find friends once you get in a house?  Is it the area?  or is the fact that we are not forced outside by horrible living conditions?  I guess we just have to work a little harder.

Oh, and I can't forget the "picnic".  Sydney has discovered the joy of her princess tea set.  I should mention that they did this a few times and on the last time Connor decided that he was a dog and needed to lap up his "tea" (water) which ended up all over the kitchen floor.  Hence the "last time".

I will have to say that I am so happy when I hear these two laughing and playing together.  For the most part, they are really good friends and I hope that it will last throughout their lives.

Happy V-day

John and I are not big fans of V-day.  I do like flowers and chocolates, but they are way to expensive for this holiday and the restaurants are so packed that it 's not worth doing that either.  But, I think we have found a tradition that we really like.

 Candle light dinner with the kids (we had Salmon, which is out of the norm for us, so I thought they would think it was fancy, but when I told the kids what we were having, Connor said, "Aw, I want crab!"  What kid says that?)

Super Bowl Sunday

I love having reasons to get together with family.  Not great pictures, but good food, good company, good conversation (was it a good game?) and just plain fun to have some of our family over.  Now we just need a bigger space so we can fit everyone. 

Is January over yet?

I haven't really taken any pictures this month because we haven't really done anything. With me feeling kind of crappy, being busy with my new calling as RS second counselor, John being busy with work, busy taking care of me, busy with his calling as Ex. secretary, and busy with trying to start his own practice (more info coming shortly) the kids have had to learn how to entertain themselves. They are pretty good most of the time, thank heavens for the Disney Channel when they aren't playing so well together. They also absolutely love taking baths in our jetted bath tub. It is almost like a small swimming pool for them; keeps them entertained for quite some time. Anyway, I promise to get my camera out and post a little more frequently, now that I feel a little bit better.

Bring on the Holidays!

I think I am almost ready to accept that the holidays are over. I haven't put down my tree yet, but I will post the pictures. This year was really nice being in our own home. It was such a relaxing time, which was really good for us since I was having some pregnancy related issues. Don't worry, I am fine. On Christmas Eve, my blood sugar got too low and I spaced out for about an hour or so. Didn't know where I was (luckily I was at my mom's) and wasn't really sure what was going on. Luckily John learned a few things all those years in school and knew exactly what I was supposed to do, or mom was supposed to make me do. Needless to say, I have a really good excuse to eat all the Christmas candy I want, like I needed on before. (This baby may be very hyper-active!)
Anyway, we changed things up this year and had Christmas Eve with my dad, aunt Deb, and cousins. We did a White-Elephant type game but instead of white-elephant gifts, we all brought games to exchange. It was really fun because then we got to play them after!

When everyone left, we let the kids open their Christmas Jammies!

Christmas morning was nice. We could take our time and let the kids play a little before we moved on. Like last year, Connor had a hard time leaving the toy he was playing with to open the next one. I kind of like that though. I remember my Christmas mornings as a kid lasting about 5 minutes, we tore through them so fast.

And they both got Bed sets, I know, not too fun, but only had 1 twin sized blanket.

John and I weren't supposed to give gifts because of the one big gift we got when we moved it. It was supposed to wait 'til Christmas, but John had to have it out before the BYU/UT game.

Thanks to my cousin, we were able to mount it on the wall for cheap and John did a great job of patching the wall back up.

So ya, I said supposed to earlier, well, John got me an I-Touch. It has actually been really nice, when I actually get to use it. You may be laughing and think that John took it over. Oh no, it would be Connor. John put some little kid games on there and he is always playing on it. I find it quite funny actually. Now my little baby will really fit in at the Peterson family reunions. (Sorry, no picture)

After that, we went to my moms and had our traditional Crab and Shrimp dinner, opened more presents, and played a crazy game called "Curses." If you want a fun group game and don't care if you make a fool of yourself, you have to try this one. I was laughing so hard that I started gagging and had to go in the bathroom to calm myself before I puked.

You won't have any idea what is going on, but my brother Matt had to speak with an irish accent, talk like Scooby Doo, clench his teeth, put bunny ears on himself, and copy John (who had to keep his arms straight at all times, amongst other things) while he followed whatever that card told him to do (couldn't really understand what that was). Oh, Man, it was HILARIOUS!
