She was a painting machine this weekend.  This was my favorite.

The only thing good about all this smoke is the cool sunsets.  I really need to find a better spot to take those shots though.  Not a fan of the buildings in front.

Tues, Aug 21

She was so excited that the lady bug was crawling on her.  It was cute!

I went to a photography seminar today by Chris Keating. He went over a lot of the basics of exposure, which I have read a lot about, so there wasn't a lot of new information but it was fun to see his techniques and learn a few tricks.  I also highly enjoyed watching the stupid people.  Seriously, when he says the on-camera flash is evil, twice, and that you shouldn't use it and you keep flashing him with your on-camera flash, you are one of those people.

These are leaves, high in a tree, just behind my grandparents house.  There is a story behind this along with my trick to get my whole family smiling in a family photo.  You'll have to wait for that post in order to hear the story.

School is starting soon (hooray!!) and so we thought we'd take Dad to the aquarium before summer ended. The lady who took this picture for me had a son who kept jumping in my picture.  I think she could tell I was annoyed and so she offered.  I think she was ready for school to start too.

It was Lynn's birthday, so we had cake of course.  Jordan really liked this cake and I was interrupting her.  Oops.

Picture a Day week 32

Sun, Aug 12
234/366
Ya, no picture today, so here is an older one of some flowers in my front yard.

Mon, Aug 13
 235/366
Sydney made Monkey Bread for our dessert.  Jordan thought it looked tasty!  and it was.

Tues, Aug 14
 236/366
I thought we would give potty training another try.  She is very willing, but I don't think she feels it yet.  She would come running to me after the fact.  But she sure loves her water table.

You probably can't tell from this picture, but it has been so hazy around here all month because of all the fires in all the western states around us.  This picture is supposed to show how hard it has been to see the mountains.  I don't like it much.

Thurs, Aug 16

 238/366
Our summer show.  Yes, too lazy to get off couch.

Fri, Aug 17

239/366
I thought I would try the "zoom in while taking a picture" move.  Not sure what the technical term is, but it was hard.  This was the best I could do.

Sat, Aug 18
240/366
I love it when my kids play good together.  Connor has been such a good big brother lately and Jordan just loves him!

Sydney's Baptism Pictures

I had a lot of fun with Sydney and her friend.  Unfortunately, we got some very heavy clouds right when we got to the temple, so the lighting isn't ideal, but the girls are so cute!  (Also, a little disclaimer.  Sydney had to have feathers on her hair piece, so don't judge, she loved it!)

Picture a Day week 31

Sun, Aug 5

Kind of embarrassed, but this is the only picture I took today.  I had to send a picture to a friend to see if I could wear these 2 patterns together.  What do you think?  Well I wore it anyway.

Mon, Aug 6

"Sou Suit mom!"  She loves her swim suit!

Tues, Aug 7
229/366
I am over the older Activity Days girls for my church and today, we played with water.  These girls are crazy, but fun.

Wed, Aug 8
230/366
Because of my sweet husband and a friend who could get us "cheap" tickets, my mom and I were able to go see "Wicked".  I saw it a few years ago in St. Louis, but my mom hadn't seen it before.  I highly recommend!  I had so much fun being out with my mom.  Thanks for the fun night!

Thurs, Aug 9
231/366
Again, I am embarrassed.  I had to send this picture to a friend to see if I could pull this sweater off.  I am not a fan of the 80's style that is coming back, but I did like this sweater.  John told me that it was "different", so I needed another opinion.

Fri, Aug10
232/366
We got to watch my cute nephew today and we loved it!  Jordan was so funny.  She came up to me and said, "hold it!" So we let her "hold" him and after a short time, she said, "put it down!"  I guess she was done!  I love those big brown eyes and that scraggly hair of my daughters!

Sat, Aug 11
233/366
My cute, dirty boy.  He and his dad went hiking with a buddy and his dad today.  He came back filthy but very proud of himself for hiking almost 8 miles today.

We made homemade lemonade today.  It is delicious!

Mon, July 30
221/366
It was my little sister's 10th birthday today.  That is crazy!  Anyway, she is a major book worm. I am certain that she has already read more books than I ever will in my entire life.  So, I made her a book pillow.  It is supposed to hold the book for her, I guess we'll see if it actually works.

Tues, July 31
 222/366
These are Connor's buddies.  They are all starting Kindergarten together this year.  Aren't they so handsome!

Wed, Aug 1
 223/366
It was my nephew's birthday, so we all went up to play in their splash park.  Well, it was closed when we got there but luckily Uncle Mitch came prepared with water guns.

Thurs, Aug 2
 224/366
We found another splash park with some friends.  Puddles just make everything better!

Fri, Aug 3
 225/366
Yogurt parfaits for Sydney's baptism, yum!

Sat, Aug 4
226/366
How did I get so old!
I hope she always remembers this day!  I only cried a little when I went to help her get back in her dress and I told her how proud I was of her and how special this moment was.

Picture a Day week 29

Sun, July 22

 213/366
You have to be very patient to get pictures like this.  I am not patient.  After 45 pictures where I just missed the lightning every time, I was about to give up.  John was out with me and I just told him it was too hard to time it, so when he said "go" I was just going to press the shutter button and hope some lightning came during that time.  Well, this was the result after the first try.  He must be lucky, except when it comes to red lights.

Mon, July 23
214/366
We were invited over to a friends for dinner (which was absolutely amazing!) and my kids loved their cats!  Sorry kids, we will never have a cat.

Tues, July 24
 215/366
Happy Pioneer Day!

Wed, July 25
 216/366
I really have no idea if I am on the right count, but oh well!
Sydney was playing "Just Dance" on the Wii and Jordan decided to join in.  She thinks she is a big kid lately and I think it is so cute!

Thurs, July 26
 217/366
Our cute little friend D got to spend the morning with us.  I am not sure Hurley enjoyed their activities.

Fri, July 27
 218/366
So, John had all the young men from our ward stay over at our house all night and had a Book of Mormon read, so the kids and I found other places to be.  We decided to go and visit my brother and his new little baby and then we slept at my moms.  Connor has hit a stage where it is very hard to take a normal picture of him.  I am okay with that though because it will be good leverage for me when he is dating!

Happy 11th Anniversary Dear!
This was probably one of my favorite anniversaries.  We hiked to Doughnut Falls with some good friends and then we went out to eat at Market Street Grill.  The food was just okay, but we brought our journals and read what we wrote when we were dating.   I didn't write very much and what I did was embarrassing, but it was fun to read what he wrote.  I think my favorite part was when he called to ask me out for the first time.  He called and we talked for probably a good 20 minutes about random things and then he told me that his roommate needed the phone and that he would call me right back.  When he did, he said something like this, "well, I just wanted to know if you wanted to go out with me this weekend."  I said yes.  He said, "great, thanks, bye."  Very short with very little information.  I laughed.  Then he called me back soon after that, sounding a little sheepish and said something like, "I guess I should tell you when and where huh?"  It was pretty funny.  So for our first date we rode in the back of his roommate's truck as we drove up into the canyon.  We played Uno, had a little dance party, and went exploring with his roommate and mine and had a good ol' time.  I really liked being around him because he was cute, funny and I felt very comfortable around him, but it wasn't until he sang that I was truly smitten.  Today I feel extremely lucky to have him.  I love you John!

Sharp-tooth Jr

When my baby brother was little, he loved to be a "Sharp Tooth" dinosaur.  He would walk around on his toes with his hands up to his chest (because the T-rex has very short arms of course) and growl at anyone who tried to talk to him.  He would do this for hours!  It was so cute.  Well, he is now a daddy Dino.  Congrats Mitch and Linsey!  He's too cute!

Great Dino claws!
