I have posted a lot of cute and silly things about Connor lately, so this is a tribute to his great, and silly example.
She really likes mustard, is that normal?
She wanted to show off her curly hair, especially to those friends who get to have curly hair every day.I tried to take the kids to the dinosaur museum and because they were having a "$2 Tuesday" the line was clear out the door, all the way to the back of the building. Since my kids only like to wait in line for maybe a minute, we decided to check out the line for the Farm. Much Better!

This was actually 2 weeks ago, but I had to post it because I think it is so cute!
That you and your cousins' kids are cousins once removed and your kids and your cousins' kids are second cousins? I didn't but I am glad I do now because it was driving me crazy!
I know, I know, Sydney is 4 and should have already had her first dental visit but if you have been around her, you would understand. She is so shy and so funny around new people. She also does not like doing new things, especially if they include putting things in her mouth and laying on a strange chair with bright lights shining in your eyes. (You know, being a dentalphobe myself, those chairs are quite alien abduction-like.) Just to give you an idea, our pediatrician was only able to see into Sydney's mouth maybe once and she had to use the fat popsicle stick to do it. I also had to hold her down everytime she wanted to look in her ears, whether she had an ear infection or not. So, there was no way we were taking her to the dental school. We knew this was going to be challenging.
We let Connor go first and he was a champ. He sat right down in the chair, but was a little weary when the chair started lay back. He did not like that much and every chance he got he sat right back up. But, he did let Daddy count and polish his teeth so that was a success. We then took him to the prize drawer and he loved that. Sydney did too, but then it was her turn. She dragged her feet a bit, but when I picked her up, she didn't throw a huge, spastic fit like I thought she would.
As you can tell, she wasn't too excited to be there, but John's assistant was great. She put in a movie about the dental office and I slowly left. I guess things went well after that because they were able to polish her teeth too and she had a huge smile when she was done. Too bad I didn't have my camera ready for that one. She was also showered with prizes as we were leaving. When we got home Sydney said, "I want to go back to the office. Will we be able to see it again?" I think we can count that as a success.
After having both a boy and a girl, I can't argue with the fact that boys and girls are just born different. I will have to admit, I don't like spiders, but I try not to act too "girly" when I see one (unless it crawls on me, but that's another story). I have really tried to teach my kids not to be afraid of bugs. Well, Sydney will kill a spider in the house for me, but she does not enjoy it too much. Connor on the other hand.... well, just watch.
Yes, that is his new pet beetle. As I was reading my book the other day, Connor came in the house saying "betty bug" (we can only guess is "pretty bug") and I thought nothing of it because lately both kids have been pretending that their fingers are bugs (do to "Itsy Bitsy Spider"). Well, I told Connor I would love to see his "pretty bug". Well, as he unfolded his hand, I saw a black antanea or leg, I didn't know which. I hurried and ran him outside and he showed me fully what was in his hand.
I remained very calm and once he put it down, I tried to hurry him back in the house, the plan being to go hide it later. (Connor loved his pet so much, there was no way it was walking away, if you know what I mean.) After trying to take it back in the house 2 more times, he finally left it on the ground. How do you explain to a little boy the reasons why he can't bring his new pet in the house? It was just a pretty bug!
We finally took our kids hiking. Okay, it was really just a walk around the lake, but that was as far as their little legs could carry them. They seemed to really enjoy it, especially when the ducklings came out.
